Treaty 2 Territory – Jaida Flett is finishing her second year in North Dakota; playing hockey for the Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks.
It was a tough loss on Saturday for this Pine Creek product & her team being defeated only 2 goals to 1 in the Championship game.
Jaida finished the tournament with 4 PTS and 10 PIMS. It was a INCREDIBLE overall season for this club making it to the Nationals in only their 2nd year in the league.
“We are very proud of her growing up in the Territory, playing her entire minor hockey here and playing for Yellowhead Chiefs which gave her the ability to succeed in something she loves; school and hockey”, said father Curt Flett.
“She is very proud is very proud to be from Minegoziibe Anishinaabe” shared mom, Rainbow. Rainbow & Curtis made the 22 hour one way drive to Missouri to support the Ladyjacks.
“Jada is an inspiration to our youth and female hockey players in the territory, we are proud of her and her teams accomplishments this season”, said Boh Kubrakovich-Kiniw, Lead Keeper and former coach (of her dad during his Junior Warrior days).
Our Treaty 2 Territory Anishinaabek Government commend Jaida and her Waywayseecappo Teammate, Trinity Tanner along with their team on their exciting year! We look forward to watching more of their on ice talent as they pursue their education journeys!!
