U20 Junior Hockey Challenge – Evaluations, Draft, and Tournament date!

March 26, 2022

Treaty 2 Territory – The U20 Junior Hockey Challenge evaluations were a complete success!  We held evaluations in Peguis, Minegoziibe, Kakakwekejeong, Brandon, Pinaymootang, and Sandy Bay.  We want to thank our nations for inviting and hosting us during these evaluations.  We have identified a number of elite level players and we are going to have a tough time drafting our teams.

There was great talent on display at all evaluation camps!  The draft is officially set for April 14, 2022 in Dauphin at Credit Union Place in the Lions Den.  You can catch it live, or watch online at on our stream at MTNLive on Facebook.

For players who couldn’t attend any evaluation camps due to conflicting playoff schedule, please contact Craig Beaulieu at to submit your name for the draft.  We understand there was a lot of elite level players who couldn’t attend, and we want to be able to showcase you at our prestige tournament!

Our Ogimaag will be selecting players for 4 teams to play in a Round Robin Tournament in Minegoziibe, Kakakwekejeong, Animoziibeeng, and Peguis on April 27-30, 2022.  The final schedule will be set after the draft.

We will be handing out medals to all the players, as well as 4 individual awards for Top Defensemen, Top Scorer, Best Goaltender, and Most Valuable Player.

We would love to extend our sincerest gratitude to our Official Jersey Sponsors, RezGal Lashes, Lacquette Construction, Manitoba First Nation Education Resource Centre, and Kiniw Management.  We are excited to have you on board in promoting this amazing event, for these deadly hockey players!

Huge miigwech to our on-ice instructors Harley Garrioch, Taran Lacquette, and Shaquille Houle who made the evaluation camp fun for all.  They have also been selected as coaches for the Tournament!

We are looking forward to a good tournament, and want to send out thank you to all the players who came out and attended the evaluations!  Without you guys, this wouldn’t have been possible!
