Treaty 2 Territory – Recently Ogimaa Derek Nepinak & Council of Minegozibee visited students at the Minegoziibe Anishinabe School. Chief Nepinak shared the importance of kindness and the need to take care of one another.
Special presentations were made to 2 deserving members of their Nation.
Chief Nepinak presented long time former Band Constable Arthur McKay with a Buffalo Skull to honour the work he’s done in the Nation. Chief Nepinak shared “Arthur showed bravery for 30 years running into the eye of the storm to help save others. We want to give him the recognition he deserves”. Arthur now works with our Treaty 2 Territory Anishinaabek Government in Peacekeeping.
A presentation was also made to Minegozibee’s First Nation Safety Officer Lane Moosetail for his heroic efforts. In recent months, Lance busted the door down of a burning home & went in to save the community member who was asleep inside. He risked his life, to save another.
Minegoziibe Councilwomen wrapped Lance in a Star Blanket & presented him with tickets to watch the Winnipeg Jets.
The visit from Chief & Council at Minegoziibe Anishinabe School ended with a Traditional Feast.
Our Government commends the Nation for coming together this way to honour these gentlemen & share the importance of kindness and respect with the students.
