Treaty 2 Summer Games 2022 discussed at FNT2T Youth Council

Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Youth Council met in person and on line at the government office in Dauphin, Mb. There were representatives from all 12 nations in the FNT2T government. Knowledge Keeper Louie Malcolm gave the opening prayer for the meeting. Youth Council representative Tyrone Desjarlisis chaired the meeting. Items for discussion included:

  • Sports and Recreation updates
  • Treaty 2 Summer Games
  • Anishinaabe Hockey Circle
  • Lateral Kindness

The youth council has set the dates of the Treaty 2 Summer Games for Jul 12-13, 2022, to be hosted by Ebb and Flow Nation at the beautiful Eagle Island location. More details will be forwarded in the near future to determine what sports will be played. This will be a great opportunity for the youth of treaty 2 territory to participate and build relationships with other youth in the territory. There was discussion on a treaty 2 hockey circle for the treaty 2 nations with the youth from each nation participating in the treaty 2 hockey circle with teams from each nation. Allan Sutherland of the Earth Lodge gave the council a short presentation on Lateral Kindness and the importance of being kind to one another as human beings.
