FNT2T Ikweak and Grandmother’s Council gather to give guidance and input for strategic planning

Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Ikweak (Women’s) Council and the Grandmother’s Council met at the Keeseekoowenin Sharing Lodge in Wagaming, Mb on May 25, 2022. This was the first meeting of the Grandmother’s Council. There was nation representation from Keeseekoowenin, Pinaymootang, Lake St. Martin, Kithithkatchewanung, Little Saskatchewan, Skownan, Tootinaowaziibeeng and Gambler. Mary Stagg of Kithithkatchewanung gave the opening prayer for the gathering. Alison Mckay of Keeseekoowenin chaired the meeting. Agenda items discussed:

  • Strategic plan (Dibendiziiwin)
  • Next steps

FNT2T strategic plan was presented to the council by Chantel Barker Peacemaking Circle Keeper for review and input. The council decided to meet in June for a 2 day review of the strategic plan. The Ikweak and Grandmother council also will meet together to give input and guidance to FNT2T government and the nations. FNT2T government will continue to work with and support the councils and the nations to move forward in law and nation development.
