Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Knowledge Council met in person at the Keeseekoowenin Sharing Lodge on May 26,2022. There was representation from the nations of Kithithkatchewanung, Lake St. Martin, Little Saskatchewan, Pinaymootang, Gambler, and Skownan. Knowledge Keeper Elsie Marsden gave the opening prayer for the meeting. Items discussed:

The knowledge council discussed climate change and how it has affected the nations and their way of life. There was discussion on water diversion in the interlake that will affect local nations along the lake. The council would like to see more involvement of the local stakeholders when decisions are made like the water diversion project and its effects. The knowledge council will be meeting with other knowledge keepers from the nation of Kapawe’no from Alberta. The councils will meet and share their teachings and knowledge with each other in developing a network of knowledge and sharing between the councils. The knowledge council meets regularly to give input and guidance to FNT2T government.
