FNT2T participates in “Family Day” at Whitmore school to offer support to families and students

June 24, 2022

Treaty 2 Territory – It was a great day at the Whitmore school in Dauphin Mb on June 24, 2022. It was “Family Day” at the school. Numerous organizations and service providers set up information booths at the school to highlight the programs and services that can be accessed for support for the students and families that attend Whitmore school. There is a 98 % indigenous student population that attends Whitmore school. It is important to offer support to the students in all areas of learning so that they can have the ability to move forward in their education without barriers. Some of the organizations to offer support included:

  • Jordan’s Principle program – Treaty 2 & 4 Health services
  • Dauphin Friendship Centre
  • First Nations Treaty 2 Territory
  • Dauphin Head start program
  • Manitoba Possible
  • Manitoba Metis Federation

The day was enjoyed by the parents and staff in attendance. The students enjoyed the square dancing and music. Free draws and information were given out to all in attendance. A barbeque lunch was offered. This was a special day for the students and families that came out to find out more about the programs and services that are available to them. FNT2T would like to thank Melissa Ferland and Whitmore school for the opportunity to participate in this positive event and look forward to working with the school and staff in the future.
