Treaty 2 Territory – Twas the night before the games, and all through the day… everyone was scurrying, ready to play!
After a couple of months of planning, after the hard work by the citizens of Kakakwekejeong, it is time for the Treaty 2 Territory Youth Summer Games. We are excited to welcome over 200 athletes to the beautiful Eagle’s Island!
Campers from Kithikachiwan and Obushkadayung arrived in the early evening and took in the beautiful sights and water. Basketball scrimmages were in full force, the sound of laughter around the fire filled the air, it’s the calm before the storm. We are expecting 200+ athletes for the Summer Games and you could feel the excitement from all the visitors and the locals
The grounds were getting the finishing touches. I want to give a shout out to the nation for really banding together to make the grounds ready for the games, it was truly a community effort, and Kakakwekejeong did not hold back! Another big shout out to the Summer Games Circle are filled with 8 awesome volunteers, they did an amazing job putting together the games and I can’t to see what they have created unfold over the next 2 days.
