Collective Economic Development
The foundation for establishing the Economic Base for First Nations Treaty 2 Territory (FNT2T) government is Ancestral Law Development. Historically, local Nations sustained and promoted economic growth. The production of goods, harvesting from managed forest systems, and trade network systems had been well established prior to settler contact.
Give aways, sharing of a hunt or harvest and trading were ancestral ways of sustaining wellbeing through Collective Economic Development. Currently, FNT2T assists with Collective Economic Development of the local Nations in order to support the restoration of opportunities to sustain and enhance social and economic wellbeing.
Public and private sector entities continue to extract resources in Treaty 2 Territory without the consent of the local Nations and FNT2T.
